The Tuckwood in Belgrade

Tuckwood - Entrée
A new movie theater opened in Belgrad, the Tuckwood, February 14th, 1999, a little more than a month before NATO started its bombings. The theater closed down several months, before it re-opened.

The sound equipment is more than correct, since all auditoriums have Dolby SRD.

Every theater is named after a Hollywood movie star; theater 1, the largest, is named "Marilyn Monroe"; it has 220 seats, a 32 ft screen, and the three digital sound systems (Dolby SRD, plus DTS and SDDS).

The other auditoriums are smaller, ranging from 75 to 50 seats; they are named after James Dean, Rita Hayworth, Lauren Bacall and Humphrey Bogart, and their screens are about 18ft wide. Theater 2 has DTS, along with Dolby SRD.

In Serbia, it has become much easier to play international movies, soon after their European releases. The Tuckwood plays them in their original languages with subtitles.
