During the '70s and the early '80s, Pierre Richard was a big comedy star in France.

Le coup du parapluie is a rather dull comedy. One of the first scenes was shot on the Champs-Elysées, in front of the Galerie Point Show shopping center (where the 3-screen Elysées Point Show was located, but this one cannot be seen in this movie): it is a long not so funny scene between Pierre Richard and his girlfriend.
