Movie theaters in movies :The Last Picture Show
"The Last Picture Show" has become the symbol of cinemas closing down. It has a wonderful black and white image; its main comedians, Jeff Bridges and Timothy Bottoms, seem to have everything to become some of the greatest... In 1951, during the Korean war, some youth are bored in their small texan town; only two places to go to: the bar, and the movie theater; the first one closes down when its owner dies, and so does the second one for lack of patrons...
The town of the movie is fictitious, but the theater is real: it is the Royal Theater, opened again for business after being closed for a long time.
What is the difference between the two pictures below? On the first one, the theater is still open (check the marquee), and it is closed down on the second one... The Last Picture Show and the Royal theater appear on the screen of a movie theater in the tv series Dawson's Creek.
